Last week, we are proud to announce that the students have elected ChangeVU to become the largest party here at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In order of our list, Morgan Deneubourg, Marko Darabos, Simon Westhoff, Rabia Alarslan, and Annas Ardiansyah were each elected into the University Student Council, and Brothin Choudhury to the BETA Faculty Student Council, Sophie Villalpando-Kosfeld to the Behavioural and Movement Sciences Faculty Student Council, and Mairys Bacle and Ella Lukas to the Faculty of Social Sciences Faculty Student Council.
We believe that these election results demonstrates a clear position from the students of VU: hate and discrimination is not welcome on-campus. ChangeVU will always fight for a campus that gives everyone the freedom and comfort to be who they are, as they are, and we are strongly opposed to any measures which aim to surpress others. In this regard, spreading statements that there are only two genders strongly fits in this category.
Our elected representatives are committed towards preventing the spread of hate and discrimination on campus, and will continue to oppose this at every turn while they work in the University and Faculty Student Councils at VU. We are very proud of our candidates and are excited to see what they come up with next.
We thank our volunteers, candidates, and supporters for carrying us through this election, and making ChangeVU the biggest party at VU. Without all of you, we truly couldn't have accomplished it.
