Accessibility

ChangeVU, through the University Student Council (USR), has proposed an initiative to address issues concerning the allocation of space for students requiring extra time during exams at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Currently, these students often face distractions due to distractions created by late-coming students, which significantly impacts their exam performance. To address this, ChangeVU proposed a restructuring of exam hall layouts to separate extra-time students from late-comers. This proposal aims to create a fair exam environment that allows students requiring additional time to focus without disruptions. ChangeVU commits to closely monitoring the implementation of this initiative to ensure its success.

ChangeVU recognizes the challenges faced by students with disabilities in accessing internships as part of certain degree programs at VU Amsterdam. To address this issue, we propose tailoring internship requirements to better accommodate all disabilities within reason. By ensuring that internship criteria are inclusive and flexible, ChangeVU aims to promote a fair and unbiased system that considers the circumstances of all students. This initiative aligns with our commitment to fostering inclusivity and equal opportunities for students across various backgrounds and abilities.

ChangeVU advocates for the implementation of hybrid learning to enhance accessibility for students facing challenges attending in-person classes at VU Amsterdam. By providing options for hybrid learning, students who struggle with physical attendance can collaborate with professors and student academic advisors to access course materials remotely. We believe that this initiative will improve the accessibility of education for all students, thereby empowering them to perform better in exams and participate fully in their academic pursuits.
